Hi, I’m Sophie — a qualified personal trainer, remedial massage therapist, and group fitness instructor with over 20 years in the fitness industry and more than 15 years working on a global scale. My background spans high-energy Zumba and aerobics, through to Pilates, Barre, yoga, meditation, and breathwork, across roles in Australia, the UK, and fast-paced cruise ship environments alongside people from more than 60 nationalities.
For years, my work demanded long hours and high output. I often found myself turning to YouTube late at night or between shifts — searching for workouts, sleep meditations, breathwork, affirmations, and neuroplasticity exercises. I discovered incredible teachers and mentors, but everything was scattered. I was constantly piecing together what I needed from different places. I wanted one space where practical movement, mindset tools, and brain training could live together — so the Wellness Cupboard YouTube channel was born.
About a year ago, as I began navigating perimenopause, I started researching the impact of menopause on the brain. I had long been fascinated by neuroplasticity — the brain’s ability to adapt, learn, and form new pathways as we age — but this stage of life deepened that curiosity. The more I learned, the more convinced I became that training the brain is just as important as training the body, particularly during periods of change. .
The retreat side of Wellness Cupboard grew naturally from that foundation. A friend and I once attended a retreat that didn’t quite align with what we were looking for, so we went home and created our own. I curated the movement sessions, brain-based activities, breathwork, journaling, and learning sessions; she created the nourishing meals. We swam, walked, talked, learned, reflected, and rested. At one point she looked at me and said, “You should do this for a living.” And something clicked.
Wellness Cupboard emerged from that combination — bringing practical tools together in one place and creating intentional spaces where people can reset, learn, and reconnect.
Through customised retreats, corporate workshops, and accessible online resources, my goal is not to offer a one-size-fits-all formula, but a growing collection of strategies so each person can discover what works for them. Some days we wake up energised and ready. Other days life feels heavier. Wellness Cupboard brings everything together in one place — everyday tools on the Digital Shelf, and deeper, immersive experiences through retreats and workshops.
Wellness isn’t about perfection. It’s about building steady habits, strengthening resilience, and creating a calm that fits your world.
